FC Porto is set to host Alverca next Saturday, May 2, at the Estádio do Dragão, in a match from the 32nd round of the Primeira Liga. The Dragons have an opportunity to be crowned national champions, but have chosen to postpone their celebrations.
Although Liga Portugal was reportedly preparing for the trophy presentation this weekend, FC Porto decided to delay not only lifting the trophy but also the celebrations at Aliados until May 17.
The championship could be secured if FC Porto defeats Alverca, or if rivals Benfica and Sporting drop points in their respective fixtures. The decision to delay aims for a grander celebration after their final home game.
The chosen date for the major celebration is after their match against Santa Clara, also at the Estádio do Dragão, ensuring a memorable moment for the Porto supporters.
Kick-off for the FC Porto vs Alverca match is scheduled for 8:30 pm on Saturday, May 2, a pivotal encounter in the Primeira Liga title race.
