Alverca has appointed Sérgio Ferreira as their new coach, replacing Custódio. The Portuguese coach has experience in clubs like SC Braga and Celta de Vigo. Sérgio Ferreira began his career at FC Foz, a club where he spent most of his playing career. Between 2017 and 2020, he had already passed through the FC Porto youth academy, but then left: he was an assistant coach to Carlos Carvalhal at SC Braga - he was part of the team that won the 2020/21 Taça de Portugal - and then also at Celta de Vigo in Spain, Al Wahda in the United Arab Emirates, and Olympiakos. In the Greek club, he worked with Pedro Alves, the sporting director of Alverca, who is now expected to reunite. In 2024, after André Villas-Boas took over as president of FC Porto, Sérgio Ferreira returned to the blue and white emblem to lead the under-19 team. In the first season, he finished second behind Benfica, but this season he managed to win the title, which had been elusive for the dragons since 2018/19. The Portuguese coach is now preparing, at 38 years old, to make his debut as a head coach in the top tier of Portuguese football. He is the chosen one to succeed Custódio, who led Alverca to 11th place in the season of their return to the league, but announced his departure from the Ribatejo emblem, despite the contract being valid until 2027.
