Alverca is set to lose one of the heroes of their promotion to Liga 2, João Bravim. The Brazilian goalkeeper impressed with his elasticity between the posts, which gave the ribatejanos a lot of confidence. Since he arrived at Alverca for the second time in his career, in January 2023, on loan from Santa Clara, Bravim played 51 games and conceded 44 goals. Alverca was unable to extend Bravim's loan, and he will now return to Santa Clara. The 27-year-old goalkeeper has several suitors and may even continue to play in Portuguese football, albeit for another team. In 2018, Alverca was the gateway to European football for João Bravim. After three seasons with Casa Pia between 2020 and 2023, the Brazilian goalkeeper returned to a house he knew well, this time contractually linked to Santa Clara. The good relations between the Azores and Alverca are reflected in the composition of the squad that built the ribatejanos' promotion to the League for the first time since 2003/04. Of the 16 players who played more than 1000 minutes for the ribatejanos this season, five were on loan from Santa Clara: João Bravim, Miguel Pires, Andrezinho, Eduardo Ageu, and Alysson. Andrezinho and Eduardo Ageu were fundamental to Alverca's defense, while Miguel Pires and Alysson contributed to the creation of offensive plays. João Bravim's departure will leave a void in the team, but Alverca has to adapt and find a solution for the next season. The ribatejano club has to focus on strengthening the team and maintaining the defensive consistency that characterized them in the last season. But the club's management is already working on finding a replacement for Bravim. So, the future of Alverca's goalkeeper position is still uncertain. Alverca's fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for their team.
